Role in the project
Within this project, TomTom's main responsibility is to contribute in the field of user experience, in order to design with the consortium a persuasive trip advisor prototype, empowering users to make informed decisions. In addition TomTom will offer maps and map technology as well as APIs and SDKs to allow consortium partners to develop persuasive trip advisor prototypes on top of offered TomTom platforms. TomTom will support partners in the development of these prototypes and in the development of interfaces where needed. Finally TomTom will also contribute to the evaluation of the developed prototypes in lab and field.
Key personell
Linde Vande Velde (Tele Atlas Data Gent NV) graduated as Geographer and teacher at theUniversity of Ghent (Belgium) in 1992. She continued to work as physical geographerresearcher at the University of Ghent until 1996. In 1996 she joined Tele Alas as trainingcoordinator and later continued as process design engineer. In 2002 she joined the StrategicResearch Department of Tele Atlas as project manager. She manages Tele Atlas researchactivities for various EC projects related to LBS, Enhanced map display, pedestrian and multimodal transport navigation such as BRIDGE-IT, COMPOSE, SHARE, ISHTAR, MOBVIS,EMOTION, I-Travel, Boemie & In-Time. She also manages the Tele Atlas research activitiesfor National Projects related to enhanced maps, especially 3D maps and indoor navigation inthe Urban and DEUS projects. In addition she developed and manages the Innovation Centerof Tele Atlas, a community of Geo Spatial companies, aiming to efficient develop innovativegeo applications by using the service oriented architecture test-bed. Within this project Linde‟smain task is the project management.
Michel Alders (TomTom International BV) Drs. Michel Alders PDEng studied Experimental Psychology in Amsterdam where he graduated in 1990. He was introduced to the field ofusability and human factors by enrolling in a post-graduate course in User-System Interactionat Eindhoven University of Technology which he completed in 2001. Before joining TomTomin 2004, Michel worked as Researcher in Philips Research. He then started his career inTomTom and now manages the User Research team within the User Experience department,being responsible for usability engineering and usability research. Within this project Michel‟smain task is a contribution to User Experience activities.
Rob Van Den Berg (TomTom International BV) has been working as computer scientist afterhis graduation as mechanical engineer (MSc) in areas as diverse as satellite tracking, opticalastronomy, and medical imaging. From 2001, Rob has been working as system architect in thefield of car infotainment & navigation systems. He has been involved in European projects onTraffic Information (TPEG, mobile.info), has been board member for the OSGi Alliance, andis currently involved in the SPITS project as architect and steering group member. Within this project he will work within the implementation and system design work package.
